Ho Chi Minh City Formerly Sai·gon  (s-gn)
The largest city of Vietnam, in the southern part of the country near the South China Sea. An ancient Khmer settlement, it was known as Saigon throughout most of its history, serving as the administrative center of French Indochina and, after 1954, as the capital of South Vietnam. The city was renamed after the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. Population: 4,860,000.

Tokyo, Japan, July 3, 2006 - (JCN) - Renesas Technology has decided to construct a new building in Ho Chi Minh City to expand the semiconductor development and design capability of its subsidiary, Renesas Design Viet Nam Co.
The Hanoi Representative Office will initially operate in parallel with the office in Ho Chi Minh City, but from fiscal 2007 the Hanoi office will assume the leading role in activities in Vietnam, taking the Ho Chi Minh City office under its wing.
