A city of northern India on the Jhelum River north of Amritsar. Founded in the sixth century a.d., it has long been a noted resort. Population: 894,000.

Byline: ANI Srinagar, Nov 20 (ANI): About half a million migratory birds have arrived for their annual sojourn at the Hokersar wetlands in Kashmir from Central Asia.
The Hokersar wetland, situated at 16 kilometres north of Srinagar, is just one of the favoured destination for migratory birds.
State wild life authorities said that they have received more avian visitors this year than they expected at the three famous waterfowl habitats of Haigam, Hokersar and Shalibugh in the valley.
