Byline: Shahid Burney PUNE: In a panic-stricken situation after more than 1,500 racehorses in Pune fell sick wheezing and sneezing due to the suspected equine influenza or horse flu, forcing the Western Indian Turf Club (RWITC) to put off the racing season that was to begin on Nov.
That discharge, however, was shown to have no links to horse flu, the continued absence of which in Victoria means that plans to resume racing with a meeting of up to 12 races at Caulfield on Saturday are unaffected.
The scare comes after a horse flu outbreak in Japan forced a halt to all scheduled racing in the country last week.
