Hus·ton  (hystn), John 1906-1987.
American filmmaker whose works include The Maltese Falcon (1941) and The African Queen (1951). He won an Academy Award for his direction of the film The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948). His father, Walter Huston (1884-1950), won an Academy Award for his performance in that film.
