In Afrikan Alphabets, the author introduces a number of ideographs, pictographs and scripts devised and designed by Africans to express and represent a voice sound, a word, or an idea.
The Japanese call them taifu, which is written with the ideographs for 'pedestal' or 'calyx' ([TEXT NOT REPRODUCIBLE IN ASCII]) and 'wind' ([TEXT NOT REPRODUCIBLE IN ASCII]).
Though she does not directly put the Chinese ideographs in the text, readers with knowledge of Chinese can appreciate her imaginative description.
