38) Nibelungenlied & Marcellinus Comes Thiorekssaga leave thinks that Attila Attila alive at was murdered (42) by story's end, thus his new wife Ildico, getting wrong the whose name suggests only fact about the some sort of German.
Over the next two centuries, various other historical figures were woven into the story, including Attila the Hun (known in medieval German as Etzel), who died of a hemorrhage on his wedding night, and Ildico, his Teutonic bride.
