Indigofera tinctoria, source of the most fabled dye, grew in abundance on the banks of the River Indus.
The Omani Ministry of Social Affairs and Development identified an area of land in the Interior, as having been used for indigofera cultivation many years ago, so the quality of the land was believed to be high, since indigofera tinctoria is a nitrogen rich, fertilising plant.
