According to figures compiled by JATO Dynamics, a leading provider of automotive industry data, barely 2,500 vehicles were purchased in August compared with more than 11,000 a year ago.
The new figure, corroborated by automotive advisory leader JATO, means Fiat is the only mainstream car brand to achieve the European average goal - of 130g/km by 2015 - five years early.
SUPERCAR makers are proving just as committed and effective as volume brands in reducing the average CO2 emissions of their cars, according to a report released by automotive data and intelligence provider, JATO Dynamics.
