| For if there is one thing that promises to be even more tedious than sorting through unopened Jiffy bags all day long, then that is surely watching a soap opera about it. Away from his adopted Tuscany, however, Samper is disgusted by British pub food ('strange pies like roast Jiffy bags full of gravy'), over-priced coffee and other gastronomic disappointments. Like the other judges, I have been astonished at the originality, maturity and sheer love of the art that has been displayed in the scores and recordings that have poured out of those mounds of Jiffy bags that arrive by post every May. |
