German general in the American Revolution who wintered with George Washington at Valley Forge (1777-1778) and was mortally wounded at the Battle of Camden (1780).

I would quibble that, despite the glossary at the end, the LaRocca and Kalb book may be hard going for some general readers, but it is, like Gingold's book, well worth the effort.
