A small plover (Charadrius alexandrinus) of the western United States and Mexico, generally yellowish gray above and snowy white below and on the sides of the head.

Last week I was bird-watching in the open area to the west of Adhari, checking the few small ditches that survive for birds and checking the open area for breeding Kentish plover and crested larks.
Previous May records include woodchat shrike, garganey, Kentish plover and Temminck's stint.
The RSPB hopes the wetland will attract spoonbills, which have not nested in Britain since the 1600s, Kentish plovers, absent for 50 years, and black-winged stilts, which have only bred in Britain three times.
