Ber·ni·ci·a  (br-nsh-, -nsh, br-)
A sixth-century a.d. Anglian kingdom in present-day northeast England and southeast Scotland. It was later part of the kingdom of Northumbria.

Woden's Day 547: Battle for Northumbria tells the tale of the arrival of the Anglo-Saxons on the North East coast and their reception by the local Brits, which eventually leads to the founding of the kingdom of Bernicia.
The fortress Ida captured was then in the Celtic kingdom of Bernicia and named Dinguaroy (there are various spellings of this).
Thus did king Ida found the Kingdom of Bernicia in 547AD (later Northumbria) The English roots were established in Britain in the 5th, 6th and 7th centuries.
