The procession or, the Nagar Kirtan carried the Guru Granth Sahib (the holy scripture of the Sikhs) in a golden palanquin which passed through various bazaars of the Amritsar.
The seven Gurdwaras of Sandwell came together to organise the Nagar Kirtan procession which started from the Guru Har Rai Gurdwara, High Street, West Bromwich, and finished at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara, High Street, Smethwick.
As Koel said, the late Charanjit Singh, the husband of Le Meridien's owner who was South Delhi's Congress MP at the time of his death, had called on him and found him listening to a kirtan with a glass of whisky in his hand.
