The following names are just some of the young men from the North Yorkshire area who gave their lives in Korea: Pte Ronald Cottingham, Fus Francis Vickers, Gnr Robert E Dowkes, L/Cpl William Hanlon, Cpl Norman W Sharp, Pte Baden Pickles, Gnr George Cawood, Cpl Douglas Thirkettle, Cpl Dennis A Jackson, Fus Raymond Sugden, L/Cpl Gordon B Harrison.
The inquest at Oxford Coroner's Court heard how L/Cpl Hashmi and colleague Cpl Peter Thorpe, aged 27, from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria were killed almost instantly along with an interpreter.
The six Redcaps killed were Sgt Simon Hamilton-Jewell, 41, Cpl Russell Aston, 30, Cpl Paul Long, 24, L/Cpl Benjamin McGowan Hyde, 23, L/Cpl Tom Keys, 20, and Cpl Simon Miller, 21 CAPTION(S): DEAD HERO: Benjamin Hyde
