L-tryptophan

L-tryp·to·phan  (ltrpt-fn)
n.
The biologically active form of the amino acid tryptophan, which is capable of being incorporated into proteins, such as the neurotransmitter serotonin. It has not been available as a dietary supplement in the United States since 1989 but is sold commercially outside of the United States.
