1.(Bot.) A genus of rosaceous herbs (Alchemilla), esp. the European Alchemilla vulgaris, which has leaves with rounded and finely serrated lobes.

I believe this same phenomenon occurs on the leaves of the common perennial lady's mantle (Alchemilla mollis), to a very pleasing visual effect.
Some of the plants she used to transform her own front yard would include catmint (Nepeta mussinii), lady's mantle (Alchemilla mollis), Bergenia and a redbud tree (Cercis).
