The current HMS Albion is a landing platform dock which acts as the afloat command platform for the Royal Navy's amphibious task force and landing force commanders.
The modern equivalent of the LSD, the Landing Platform Dock (LPD) still remains popular with one of the most successful designs coming from Royal Schelde with its Rotterdam class.
HMS Bulwark is an 18,500 ton ne Albion Class Landing Platform Dock vessel used for amphibious assault.
