PALMDALE -- Hoping to squelch what the Mormon community believes are misconceptions about its religion, members of Palmdale's Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints performed a re-enactment this past week of the Nativity.
Mitt Romney is laying the groundwork for a run at the White House in 2008, and already one aspect of his campaign has sparked controversy: his aggressive outreach to officials with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons).
They follow in the footsteps of Joseph Smith, who founded their church; Brigham Young, who led the Mormons to Utah; and ensuing generations of Latter-day Saints.
