The suspension is configured with double wishbones at the front for reliability and durability, and uses leaf springs at the rear.
Coincidence is not causation, so I do not mean to say that we'd all be better off with live axles, semi-elliptic leaf springs, and worm-and-roller steering.
Unfortunately, like everything else, those leaf springs are going to wear out or break.
