Le·vine  (l-vn), James Lawrence Born 1943.
American pianist and conductor. He began his career with the Metropolitan Opera as principal conductor in 1973 and has also served as music director (1976-present) and artistic director (1986-2004). In 2004 he became the music director for the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
