High school seniors residing in the Castaic or Val Verde areas may submit applications to the Castaic Lions Club for a scholarship grant for higher education. Clerk Hafter told the Associated Press that the town could not keep the money, so donated it instead to a long-standing Lions Club program that collects old glasses, refurbishes and classifies them by prescription, and then sends them to needy persons in developing countries. Community Capital Bank has also become involved in many local activities in Sunset Park, including serving Thanksgiving dinner to the needy at the Salvation Army Sunset Park Corps every year and collaborating with the Sunset Park Lions Club on a recent toy drive and health fair. |
