Pfizer and Astellas are pleased with the prompt resolution of this issue, and are committed to the marketing and promotion of Lipitor in Japan with a renewed focus.
Data on the treatment, a combination of Pfizer's $12 billion-a-year drug Lipitor and torcetrapib, a compound intended to raise ``good'' cholesterol levels, showed the drug significantly raised ``good'' cholesterol by 56 percent and lowered ``bad'' cholesterol by 27 percent compared with patients taking Lipitor alone.
Lipitor (atorvastatin, from Pfizer), which is FDA-approved for people with high cholesterol, is currently under study in 152 people at high risk for definite MS.
