lithography [lɪˈθɒgrəfɪ] n (Communication Arts / Printing, Lithography & Bookbinding) a method of printing from a metal or stone surface on which the printing areas are not raised but made ink-receptive while the non-image areas are made ink-repellent [from New Latin lithographia, from litho- + -graphy] lithographer n lithography 1. the art or process of producing an image on a flat, specially prepared stone, treating the items to be printed with a greasy substance to which ink adheres, and of taking impressions from this on paper.
