No-one is suggesting that the aim is to turn ordinary children into latter day generation of little Lord Fauntleroys but there is something patronising about the suggestion that seven-year-olds from what one Tory paper called "poor or modest homes" should be taken away from the kids of their community and the local school to be given "a chance in life.
