Liv·er·pool  (lvr-pl)
A borough of northwest England on the Mersey River near its mouth on the Irish Sea. First colonized by Norsemen in the late eighth century, Liverpool received a charter from King John in 1207. Today it is highly industrialized and a major port. Population: 469,000.

To see the Liverpudlians who opposed the Ship Canal as somehow greener than the Mancunians who promoted it strai ns credulity, but it does seem right to acknowledge that attention to environmental consequences was the by product of struggles between towns, regions, or rival owners of capital, and that improvement of environmental quality was sometimes the outcome.
This two-CD, 45-track set is a collection of outtakes, live and alternate versions recorded by the four Liverpudlians between February 1965 and February 1968.
