pounds 400K CAR PLATE S1, the first car number plate issued in Edinburgh - in 1903 to Sir John MacDonald, Lord Justice Clerk of Scotland - sold last night for pounds 397,500.
The plate was originally bought in Edinburgh in 1903 by Sir John MacDonald, the Lord Justice Clerk of Scotland until 1919.
Lord Gill, the Lord Justice Clerk of Scotland, asked for submissions to be in writing and for people to apply to him who planned to take part in the proceedings.
