Also called Lutz-Splendore-Almeida disease or South American blastomicosis, it was described by Adolfo Lutz in 1908 pseudococcidioidal granuloma; then in 1928, Almeida and Lacaz named the Paracoccidioides genus and in 1930, Almeida called the fungus Paracoccidioides brasiliensis (1).
