One that sequences, as:
a. An electronic device or software program that can be instructed to order and modify digitally stored musical sounds for playback, as through a synthesizer.
b. An apparatus for determining the order of constituents in a biological polymer, usually DNA or protein. In this sense also called sequenator.

A MIDI sequencer is a device that records a song that you play on a MIDI instrument (or series of instruments) and uses the recorded data to play these instruments the same way that you did when you recorded them.
Another advantage of MIDI is that with a MIDI sequencer you can record your music in easy-to-edit form.
The pianists performed each melody three times, and the nine performances were performed on an electric piano that interfaced with a computer and MIDI sequencer.
