Another Chandrayaan instrument -- the Moon Mineralogy Mapper -- provided guidance and data with respect to observations of hydroxyl and adsorbed water in sunlit regions near the South Pole.
Rather than observing a process, the mapper might make estimates based on existing standards.
The signature for these molecules was recently found and reported by Chandrayaan-1's Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) instrument team.
