Mark An·to·ny  (nt-n) or Mark An·tho·ny (nth-n) Originally Marcus Antonius. 83?-30 b.c.
Roman orator, politician, and soldier. His love affair with Cleopatra split the triumvirate he had formed with Octavian and Lepidus and led to war. In 31 b.c. the forces of Antony and Cleopatra were defeated by Octavian at Actium, and both subsequently committed suicide.
