Coun Mary Glindon, older people's champion, said: "In North Tyneside we're committed to building a community that adds life to years, and years to life.
The motion, also signed by deputy mayor Jim Allan and councillors Frank Lott, John Hunter and Mary Glindon, says the club is "a fine example of a grass roots community enterprise that harnesses the enthusiasm of our young people".
