I read about him in "Colonel Fawcett's Expedition," in which he told of his expedition to Brazil's Matto Grosso and of his encounters with giant anaconda snakes, two nosed dogs and flesh eating piranha fish.
The letters paint a colourful picture of his adventures in the vast Matto Grosso plateau, facing the hazards of crocodiles, snakes and "savages".
Sales of the company's Suvinil and Glasurit brands in Matto Grosso state, in the Central West, have doubled over the past year or so, and sales in North Eastern states like Pernambuco also are rising rapidly for BASF.
