He is survived by his wife, Constance (Brothers) McLaughlin; six children, Judith and her husband, Richard McGrath, of Douglas, Richard and his wife, Donna McLaughlin, of Douglas, William and his wife, Cheryl McLaughlin, of Douglas, Colleen and her husband, David Carelli, of Douglas, Thomas McLaughlin of Douglas and Steven McLaughlin of Douglas; two step-children, Alan Buchey of Shrewsbury and Kimberly Duprey of Boylston; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
John McLaughlin, defending, told the court: "He has been significantly assaulted in prison on two separate occasions.
