Dear Editor, Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive disorder virtually restricted to certain ethnic groups originating from the Middle East: Sephardic Jews, Armenians, Arabs, Druze and Turks (1).
The pathogenesis of familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is unknown, and since no specific laboratory test is yet available, the diagnosis of FMF remains clinical.
Mediterranean fever is a genetic disorder that causes unpredictable bouts of fever, skin rash, and inflammation of the lungs and joints.
