The company also has completed and started up a metaxylene (MX) unit at Texas City, TX.
This facility is located in the 290,000-barrel-per-day Corpus Christi refining complex and produces about 4 billion pounds of commodity chemicals annually, including pseudocumene, as well as other chemicals such as orthoxylene, metaxylene, paraxylene, benzene, cumene and toluene.
Ibn Rushd's aromatics complex uses the Cyclar process to produce 350,000 t/y of benzene, 300,000 t/y of paraxylene, 45,000 t/y of orthoxylne and 35,000 t/y of metaxylene, as well as 190,000 t/y of polyester.
