Council chairman, Councillor Michael Huscroft, who will open the store, said: "In these tough economic times, it's great news that the ex-Woolworth's site is now being put to good use.
The chairman of North Tyneside Council, Coun Michael Huscroft, was among the crowd enjoying the revamped cultural and entertainment venue, which forms part of a pounds 64m regeneration programme for Whitley Bay.
The invitation is expected to attract around 200 people, who will be given the opportunity to talk to Coun Michael Huscroft, who is in his 40th year as a councillor.
