Midyan was first found in November 1992 on the Red Sea coast about 150 km west of Tabuk and 550 km north of Yanbu'.
This envisaged developing proven reserves in onshore Bargan and Midyan gasfields and building power generation-desalination plants, as well as exploring for offshore gas reserves off the Red Sea.
6) One might, however, argue that this was not a "Jewish" or a Hebrew/Israelite invention: although, as the text tells us, Jethro accepted the Israelite deity as his (see Exodus 18:10-12), he had already been practicing as a priest of Midyan (18:1), and it is at least as likely that his advice reflected Midyanite practices.
