Image quality evaluation studies of CR systems typically use metrics such as contrast-to-noise ratios (CNRs), limiting spatial resolution, the modulation transfer function (MTF), noise power spectrum (NPS) and detective quantum efficiency (DQE).
The measurements performed were tone thresholds; transient-evoked otoacoustic emissions, with and without contralateral noise; and psycho-acoustical modulation transfer function (PMTF), thresholds for brief tones in modulated noise.
It is characterized by a parameter called Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), also known as spatial frequency response, which is a measure of the response of an optical system to varying intensities of light.
