a. A Native American people formerly inhabiting eastern Connecticut, with present-day descendants in southeast Connecticut and Wisconsin. The Mohegan broke away from the Pequot in the early 17th century under the leadership of Uncas.
b. A member of this people.
2. The Algonquian language of the Mohegan.
