S/MIME - S/MIME is an acronym that stands for Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions, and this is a standard that is used for signing email and public key encryption of email that is encapsulated in MIME.
Suspect messages are sent to the quarantine queue where administrators can view headers, approve messages, inspect the body of the message in a Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) decoded format and download attachments when necessary.
During the test, two encryption solutions were examined, a version of the Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME) for RIM devices, and Voltage Security's Enterprise Privacy Management platform using Identity Based Encryption (IBE), which provides enhancements for S/MIME messaging.
