3/2/2009 4:35:24 AM Nationalists have failed to reach an outright majority in elections in Spain's Basque region, raising the possibility of a non-nationalist government for the first time in 29 years.
Byline: By MARK SMITH THE Nationalists are on course to seize power after opening an unprecedented double lead over Labour, according to a survey leaked yesterday.
When the dust of those first few days had settled, physically speaking Spain was divided roughly in two with the Republicans holding the south, apart from a few embattled Nationalist enclaves, while the Nationalists basically held the north, apart from a strip of territory running from the French border about three quarters of the way across to the Atlantic coast line.
