I took a close look at it and was struck that while this marvelous piece of art is intended to honor the Navajo people since the near destruction of their culture by the U.
explores how Navajo people accommodate biomedical technologies such as blood transfusion, transplant, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and surgeries like amputation within the context of medical and religious pluralism.
I think that's one reason why he really enjoyed and found so much inspiration in writing about the Navajo people.
