In the case of No 1 Neathouse Place, near Victoria Station, a podium and slab block which spans a very busy road, the post-tensioned concrete beams of the bridge structure were so formidable that no-one could work out how to demolish them expeditiously, and the building stood empty for several years while sucessive consultants tried to decide what to do with it.
