The letter, which was initiated by the Foundation for AIDS Research, also known as amfAR, highlighted President Barack Obama's stated commitment to reducing HIV incidence, noting that "accomplishing this laudable goal will require implementation of all available proven effective HIV prevention programs, including needle exchange programs.
A SPOKESMAN for the North West Wales NHS Trust said: "Since its establishment nearly 20 years ago, the needle exchange programme has been successful in reducing blood-borne viruses among injecting drug users and the wider public.
Coincidentally, staff are awaiting a new mobile needle exchange service which is to be launched to further improve the return of used needles in areas like Stokesley.
