The 21,544 tonnes shipment was the last of a 150,000 tonne soft wheat purchase signed in April between the Syrian government and Granit Negoce, the marketing division of French cooperative Epis-Centre.
Jean-Philippe Everling, director of Granit Negoce in Paris confirmed the cargo had been rejected but declined to comment further.
David Ohayon, director of Louis Dreyfus Negoce, says it is important to have a presence in every major wheat market and a first-hand understanding of the export qualities available worldwide in order to be able to best meet consumers' specific needs.
