Nga·mi  (ng-gäm), Lake
A lake of northern Botswana north of the Kalahari Desert. The marshy lake covered an extensive area during the Pleistocene Epoch but was greatly reduced in size during the 1880s, when papyrus growth blocked the mouth of its main tributary.

Angel, who is married and lives in Durban, took command of the Safmarine Ngami - a 2474teu containership deployed on the South Africa/North America (AMEX) trade route - in mid-October 2008.
Despite that, he began exploring and is credited with discovering Lake Ngami in 1849, the Zambesi river in 1851 and the spectacular Victoria Falls in 1855.
As a result of a confirmed case of polio in the Ngami District in the northern region, the Government ordered polio vaccinations targeting children under 5 years of age during the reporting period.
