New Spain
1. A former Spanish viceroyalty (1521-1821) in North America, including the southwest United States, Mexico, Central America north of Panama, and some West Indian islands. It also included the islands of the Philippines.
2. The former Spanish possessions in the New World. At its greatest extent, New Spain comprised South America (except Brazil), Central America, Mexico, the West Indies, Florida, and much of the land west of the Mississippi River.

2) El 30 de octubre de 1692, desde San Lorenzo el Real, en la peninsula iberica, el rey Carlos II expidio una Cedula que ordenaba a todas las autoridades de la Nueva Espana y al resto de las colonias del Imperio, que se impusiera cobro en lo que se estuviere debiendo por causa de compras de villas, de lugares, de jurisdicciones, de tierras, de bosques, de alcabalas y de otras.
La nueva Espana surgio como una criatura amnesica que se debatia en una orgia de posibilidades existenciales.
Mexico por dentro y fuera bajo el gobierno de los vireyes, o sea enfermedades politicas que padece la capital de esta Nueva Espana en casi todo los cuerpos de que se compone y remedios que se le deben aplicar parasu curacion si se quiere que sea util al rey y al publico (Mexico City, 1831), 36-40, 46-50.
