NORMAN Tebbit has said he regretted the damage caused to the region by the miners' strike which began 25 years ago today but blamed Arthur Scargill and the NUM.
MPs representing former and existing mining constituencies this weekend called for an inquiry by the National Audit Office and for the money to be paid back to the miners whom, they claim, have been ripped off by the NUM.
Arthur worked tirelessly for the miners during his term as president of the NUM.
