Unhappy Nutmeg State Catholics and their legislators might want to take a look at another bit of Connecticut's religious tradition: Thomas Jefferson's famous 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptists, in which he first alluded to a wall of separation between church and state, a principle enshrined by the Constitution and generations of case law in the centuries since.
About a half million Nutmeg State residents initially were affected by the lost tape, which was reported in May but actually went missing several months earlier.
