n.1.A kind of theater in ancient Greece, smaller than the dramatic theater and roofed over, in which poets and musicians submitted their works to the approval of the public, and contended for prizes; - hence, in modern usage, the name of a hall for musical or dramatic performances.

A tale of two Odeons -another cinemas COLIN Hatton writes regarding the pictures of the Odeon - but not the one we said it was.
Deutsch called his Odeons "palaces for the people" and claimed he built the chain because he wanted to repay the country that gave him and others protection during the Fascist era - and also to provide luxurious surroundings for working people.
